Stoke City Football Club

Stoke City Football Club is located in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The current captain of Stoke City FC is Ryan Shawcross, a young English defender. This squad is made up of mostly unknown but hard working players. This is evident by their highest showing ever in the Premier League for the 2009-10 season by finishing 11th. In the Premier League, they do not really have a rival, but there is an ever increasing tension with another midlands team, West Bromwich Albion. From their years of relegation, there most heated rival is probably Port Vale, also in Stoke-on-Trent. When these two clubs play, they play in what has become known as the Potters Derby. But currently Port Vale is in the second division which diminishes the chance of another fixture any time soon.

History of the Stoke City FC

Stoke City FC is considered the oldest football club in the Premier League and second oldest club on record behind Notts County. Formed in 1863 as the Stoke Ramblers, they played their first official match in 1868. Stoke City FC began play in 1878 at the Victoria Gardens, which they called home until 1997 when it moved to the new Britannia Stadium. Stoke City has not had a lot of success, but they are one of the founding members of the Football League. They derive their nickname from Stoke City with all the potters, hence the name The Potters. In 1928, Stoke finally became known as Stoke City FC because just a few years earlier, Stoke-on-Trent finally achieved city status. The club has been owned since 2006 by Peter Coatses, who also owns and chairs Stadia Catering and Bet365.

Stoke City Tickets at Britannia Stadium

Because Britannia Stadium only holds 28,383, it is one of the more difficult tickets to obtain in the Premier League. This might seem like a cozy stadium, but do not worry, the fans have turned up the volume to make Britannia Stadium as loud or louder than Anfield on numerous occasions. The old Victoria Gardens has a rich history and more than 110 years as the home for Stoke City, but the new features at Britannia Stadium make the move enjoyable for all their fans. If you are from another country or just a fan on the lower side of the UK, your best way to secure Stoke City tickets is with a package from Global Event Forum.
